I’m Sean Hansen, the voice behind Guard the Guardians. The podcast was forged over several years of hard learning experiences. Whether it’s the hardships of being deployed to a combat zone, dealing with trauma in the line of duty, feeling out of place in everyday society – I’ve been there.
I was born overseas and spent much of my childhood living in foreign countries. That had a huge impact on me, and showed me that good, hard working people exist all over the world. I also come from a long lineage of serviceman. During the Cold War, my Father was in the Army and during WWII my Grandfathers were in the Army and my great grandfather was in the Army. You probably see the trend, but the thing is that neither I nor my forefathers were career military. My family has long believed that service to one’s community and country is a requirement in life. Serving the “tribe” is not an obligation but an honorable duty that makes us all better.
I’ve walked a twisting path in life, and I’ve had a lot of failures and embarrassment over the years, but I believe that I’m better off for all the winding ways. I too, followed in the steps of my forefathers and joined the military. Fast forward to today, post military and after spending time in the corporate world I needed a way to get back to the people who had shown me what honor and valor are. I needed to get back to those who are willing to sacrifice themselves so that the team can survive. I needed a wolf pack. I needed…you.
